GO TO YOUR ROOM !

I borrowed this phrase from the recently deceased Canadian painter Robert Genn who believed that there is only so much we can learn about how to paint from the many fine instructors and resources available today. The true learning comes from going off on our own and just doing it - Go to your room!

I have had the good fortune to take instruction from outstanding artists in Canada and the USA. I continue to work on my own development ( Going to MY room!) . I share, through this blog and workshops, what I have learned and what others have shared with me.

I created this blog primarily for those attending my workshops to keep in touch and to further share as we grow together. If others are interested in following that would be great.

Enjoy the journey.

On the road again.......

Back Road to Collingwood

Tomorrow, Cathy and I  head back to Ontario to spend a few months with our sons and their families. Plan is to spend some time in the Rockies gathering reference photos and making  sketches - first oils I have worked with in almost 6 months. We then punch through the remaining snow and flooding in the Prairies and hit Ontario in a couple of weeks.

Sadly, had to sell our fifth wheel, which we loved, because of difficulty backing due to my loss of vision. But looking forward to trying out the new Class C.

Taking a few Ontario paintings back with us.

Be in touch. Cheers

  1. Have a safe and FUN trip. You can probably catch the "Artists for an oil-free Coastline" show as it heads to Canmore. I'm in Sask. at the end of May. Any chance you'll still be around? Would love to show off the beautiful Qu'Appelle Valley.
